Database manager

Our database of congregations is in four Excel files which can be viewed or downloaded by clicking on the following:

Below are earlier thoughts about how to maintain our database of congregations.

The key task for the database manager is to maintain the list of congregations. We hope to convert the database to be a modern relational database.

We considered using Google Spreadsheets, but haven't done much with it. Once a spreadsheet is in Google, permission can be given for anyone to view or edit it, and that is done by adding an e-mail to a list. The Boca Raton list was put at Google spreadsheet of Boca Raton Congregations

We've hoped for a long time that we would create a community asset with our list of congregations. Now Family Promise has greatly improved the list by adding lots of clergy and the Order of St. John has probably also improved it, but there is no process for causing these improvements to flow to one database. Would it be useful to see if the Order of St. John would like to colloborate or lead in creating a process whereby this list can be constantly improved. (11/15/06)
